Some solar system objects that are candidates for radar imaging are covered by clouds or haze, producing optical imaging tricky or not possible. These atmospheres are transparent to radio frequency waves, and might be imaged using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) which delivers its personal penetrating illumination with radio waves.
